MEASURE YOUR FEET

Place a sheet of paper on the floor against a wall. Stand on the paper with your heel touching the wall. Mark the tip of your longest toe with a pen, keeping the pen slightly angled (see image). Measure the distance from the edge of the paper at the wall to the mark. This is your foot length. Compare it to the centimetres column in the size chart to find your size. Measure both feet and use the longer measurement. We recommend measuring in the afternoon, as feet expand slightly throughout the day. If you fall between two sizes, choose the larger one.

UK sizes, standard E fitting

Most customers take their usual UK dress shoe size, which is usually half to one size smaller than their trainer size. Lasts such as the 348 have a longer toe that can look roomy, but the fit through the heel and ball is true to size.

If you are between sizes, try both in the shop. Welted shoes feel firm at first and soften with wear, so choose the size that holds your heel.

Full size guide

The Cadogan from Crockett & Jones continues the house's tradition of well-proportioned, properly constructed shoes from Northampton. Founded in 1879, the firm builds every pair on site using Goodyear welted construction, an approach that allows resoling and rewards patience with shoes that improve over years of wear.

The grain leather has a pebbled surface texture that ages well and handles weather and daily wear with far less fuss than a smooth calf finish. Scuffs blend into the pattern rather than standing out. The single leather sole keeps the profile slim and elegant, and the Goodyear welted construction means it can be resoled when the time comes. Made in Northampton, England.

Care: Brush off dirt with a stiff brush after each wear. Apply a wax-based polish in a matching shade to nourish and protect the grain. The grain surface is naturally more resistant to scuffs and moisture than smooth calf. Insert shoe trees after each wear.
