John Lobb
William Brown Museum
How it fits: John Lobb
UK sizes, standard E fitting
John Lobb shoes are built on elegant lasts with a close fit. Many customers find they take half a size smaller than in other English makers, but this varies by last.
We recommend trying John Lobb in the shop, or asking us before ordering online so we can compare it with a size you already own.
Description
The William is the shoe John Lobb is most often recognised for. First conceived in the 1940s, its double buckle design introduced a different kind of ease: two palladium-finished buckles in place of laces, a clean silhouette that moves between tailored and relaxed settings without asking permission.
The museum calf finish creates a hand-painted depth of colour, darker at the edges and lighter across the toe and vamp, that cannot be replicated by any factory process. Each pair is unique. The single leather sole keeps the profile slim and elegant, and the Goodyear welted construction means it can be resoled when the time comes. Handmade in Northampton, England.
